History

The club was formed in 1993. Originally it was called Deepdale Pétanque club since the venue was Deepdale Community Centre in Boston Spa.
However the terrain was only large enough for 2 pistes and the playing conditions were far from ideal.
At the end of 1995 the club moved to the Crown Hotel and converted a 13m*12m area of the car park (4 pistes).
The name was then changed to Boston Crown Pétanque club.
At the end of August 2002 the club were asked to leave the Crown Hotel due to redevelopment.
We then moved to a newly constructed terrain at Wetherby Sports Association.
This was built by the Sports Association in conjunction with the Wetherby Twinning Association and was 13m * 12.5m (4 pistes)
The name was then changed to Wetherby Pétanque club.
After the establishment of a club it was decided to extend the terrain since there was space to extend to 34m * 12.5m (11 pistes).
The extension was made possible by a grant from the Leeds City Council Materials Fund and was completed on 1/8/03.

Before, during and after the extension (more photos are available in the News archive).
